2013 Opening Ceremony for New Graduate Students Held by the School of Social Sciences

The 2013 opening ceremony for new graduate students was held by the School of Social Sciences in the multifunctional hall of Xiong Zhixing Building on August 28, 2013. The dean of the School of Social Sciences Li Qiang, and the party secretary Shi Zhiqin attended the ceremony; deputy party secretary Zhang Chenggang hosted the ceremony.

Li Qiang delivered a welcome speech at the ceremony, and illustrated the proper academic attitude and research spirit of a graduate student with research examples of sociology. Then he expressed his expectations for the new students to shoulder the responsibility of the discipline development, the national revitalization, and the realization of the Chinese dream. Moreover, the students should bear in mind, take actions now, and improve themselves at every level to become an academic scholar, business expert, and administration talent.

On behalf of the faculty, Cai Jiming delivered a speech that explains the proper qualities, research spirits as well as the desires for knowledge to be a graduate student from the perspective of his discipline. He wished the new students could work hard, broaden their view, and improve their overall quality for comprehensive development. Hu Gaochen on behalf of all graduates shared his own experience as a graduate student at Tsinghua University. Xu Yuan on behalf of the new students delivered a speech to show the determination to carry on the excellent traditions, focus on the study, improve the overall quality, and work hard to combine their own ambitions with the Chinese dream and Tsinghua dream.

Over 200 people attended the ceremony, including the members of the council office, principals from each department, faculty and staff representatives, the new student assistants, and all the new graduate students of 2013.
