International Conference on Network Analysis Technology-2017 Sunbelt Conference Held in Beijing

From 31stMay to 3rdJune, the International Conference on Network Analysis Technology-2017 Sunbelt Conference was held in Beijing International Conference Center. The conference was hosted by the School of Social Sciences of Tsinghua University and sponsored by Center for Social Network Research of Tsinghua University, Social Network and Social Capital Research Committee of Chinese Sociological Association and Institute for Empirical Social Science Research of Xi’an Jiaotong University.

Composed of a forum in the Chinese language and another one in the English language, the conference attracted more than 300 participants, including well-known guests from both at home and abroad, with heated discussions on the theme of “social capital and social governance”. On the forum in the Chinese language, Communist Party Committee Secretary Liu Taoxiong of the School of Social Sciences and Vice President Li Peilin of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences made a speech respectively; and Lin Nan, Professor of Department of Sociology of Duke University, Former Vice President of American Sociology Association and Academician of Academia Sinica, gave a keynote speech on “society and economy”.

From preparation to convention, the forum gathered totally 332 conference papers and 38 postal papers in the English language and 98 conference papers in the Chinese language.

Conference Site

The International Network for Social Network Analysis (INSNA) is a non-governmental and non-profit association founded in 1977. Its first annual conference was held in Tampa, Florida, U.S. Every scholar interested in social network analysis is welcome. Its annual conference, called Sunbelt Conference, is held once a year and has been held for 36 years in Sun Belt of the U.S. (so called Sunbelt Conference) and EU. This year, the conference is held in China for the first time, which signals that Chinese scholars play an increasingly important role in network analysis studies and also establishes a platform of international academic exchange, promotes the cooperation between network analysis and multiple disciplines and drives progress in new academic research directions.
