Professors from the School of Social Sciences are Invited to Attend the 22nd China Development Forum

On March 20-22, the China Development Forum 2021 (CDF 2021) sponsored by the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC) was held at Beijing Diaoyutai State Guesthouse both online and offline. Themed “China on a New Journey of Modernization”, CDF 2021 elucidates China’s development vision to enhance the confidence of international business circles and China in common development. Present were more than 2,000 participants, including government leaders, business representatives, famous academic experts and news media delegates. Professors from the School of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University were invited to the event.

On March 20, Fu Ying, Chairperson of the Center for International Security and Strategy at Tsinghua University (CISS), was invited to the Plenary Session “50 Years of the China-US Relations”, where she delivered a speech titled “Beyond the Predicament: Start with the End in Mind” and shared her perceptions of the development of bilateral relations. She said that as China and the US have again come to a key historical point, the two are expected to better understand and address the differences between them by looking back into the past and contribute to the rational and healthy development of bilateral ties in the new era and the continuation of the general trend of world peace and development.

Li Daokui, Professor at the School of Social Sciences, Director of the Academic Center for Chinese Economic Practice and Thinking (ACCEPT), and Co-President of the Society for the Analysis of Government and Economics (SAGE), was invited to the Parallel Session “Opening a New Chapter in Regional Economic and Trade Cooperation”. Li argued that as China has become a leader sustaining globalization, entrepreneurs have to embrace a new era.

Da Wei, Professor of International Relations at the School of Social Sciences and Deputy Director of CISS, was invited to chair the Parallel Session "China-US Economic and Trade Agreements: What’s Next” and discuss with participants China-US economic and trade issues.

Liu Taoxiong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Social Sciences and Executive Dean of the Institute for Innovation and Development at Tsinghua University, and Zhang Xiaojin, Deputy Dean of the Institute for Governance Studies, Tsinghua University, were invited to the Parallel Session “New Chapter of Global Digital Governance”.
