Four Textbooks Compiled by the School of Social Sciences are Awarded as Excellent Textbooks of Tsinghua University 2020

For a long time, the School of Social Sciences has placed high value on moral cultivation and textbook system building. In recent years, by mobilizing the multi-disciplinary and faculty resources, the School of Social Sciences has written and revised multiple textbooks which reflect its educational philosophy and teaching strength, echoing the state’s new requirements for moral cultivation, educational & teaching innovation. Over the years, the School of Social Sciences has made continuous headways in the textbook compilation for various disciplines and education & teaching quality. It has delivered many classical textbooks for the social science discipline, enhancing its influence among domestic and foreign colleges.

Tsinghua University has developed the “Tsinghua University Excellent Textbook Selection Criteria and Rewarding Methods”, aimed at selecting campus-level excellent textbooks and commending and rewarding the authors. The selection of excellent textbooks follows a series of procedures, ranging from author application, school recommendation, to THU textbook experts review, and approval by leading group of college textbook and academic monograph building. Four textbooks compiled by the School of Social Sciences have been awarded with the honor this year.

First Prize: Jing Yuejin “Contemporary Chinese Government and Politics”, Yan Xuetong “Analysis of International Relations”, Xing Yue “Introduction to International Relations”; Second Prize: Li Zhengfeng “Engineering Ethics”.

Textbook is the basic educational and teaching project, serving as the knowledge-based carrier of the Three-in-One educational philosophy combining value cultivation, capability building and knowledge impartment. This award will further raise the awareness of the importance of textbooks compilation and knowledge structure construction among faculties and students. The School of Social Sciences will continue to facilitate the compilation of excellent textbooks, so as to break new grounds in textbook building.
