A delegation led by CityU Rector Liu Jun visited School of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University

On the morning of March 8, Rector Liu Jun and Vice Vector Zhou Wanlei of City University of Macau (CityU) visited the School of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University. The two sides held a symposium on deepening scientific research cooperation and strengthening exchanges for teachers and students of the two universities. Dean Peng Kaiping, Communist Party Committee Vice Secretary Li Ying, Associate Professor Sun Pei from the Department of Psychology, Strategic Development Office Director Xiao Hongying and young teachers from related departments and institutes of the School of Social Sciences took part in the symposium. The symposium was presided over by Ouyang Qin, Communist Party Committee Secretary of the School of Social Sciences.

At the symposium, Liu Jun and Peng Kaiping introduced the general situation, advantages and features of CityU and the School of Social Sciences at Tsinghua University, respectively, and then the two sides had an in-depth discussion on the possible areas of cooperation.

Liu Jun said that CityU has an edge in the discipline of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Social Sciences could be a bridge of cooperation between the two universities, where there are many topics worth discussing together; at the same time, Macau is a model of the policy of "one country, two systems", and has a distinctive association culture worthy of further study. Zhou Wanlei noted that CityU, as a university focusing on Humanities and Social Sciences, is now advancing the development of "digital humanities", which provides a sound basis for cooperation between the two. Ouyang Qin mentioned the long history of liberal arts at Tsinghua, and said that since the School of Social Sciences is young and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of CityU is vibrant and promising, it is of great significance to strengthen the exchanges and cooperation between the two schools of the two universities. Then, Associate Professor Wang Fei from the Department of Psychology and Associate Professor Zhao Yizhang from the Department of Sociology of the School of Social Sciences introduced their research programs respectively. They hoped to have further cooperation and discussion with CityU in their respective research fields. Sun Pei and Xiao Hongying said that they would actively assist with the in-depth cooperation between the two.

Finally, the two sides agreed that further cooperation could be established in areas such as computational social science, social work programs and digital technologies as well as on short-term exchange programs for teachers and students.
