Introduction
Jingming LIU (刘精明) is Professor of Sociology. Professor Liu’s research interests include social stratification and social mobility, sociology of education, urbanization and social research methods. He led several National Social Sciences Fund Projects, and participated in China General Social Survey (CGSS, conducted by Renmin University of China), Labour Migration and Urbanization Survey (conducted by Tsinghua University), Chinese College Students’ Growth and Development Follow-up Investigation (conducted by Tsinghua University), as a key organizer. His main publications include The State, Social Class, and Education (China Renmin University Press, 2005) and papers in journals such as Social Sciences in China and Sociological Studies. In 2007, he was selected in the “New Century Talent Program” sponsored by the Ministry of Education.
